air conditioner a/c clutch problem? 850

My 95 805 t-5r 130k has recently been having problems with the a/c unit. It seems like the a/c clutch is rapidly engaging and disengaging at a rate of about once every 2 seconds. From inside the car, it sounds like a person breathing deeply or snoring. Any help or suggestions on what to do in this situation (I'm praying that it's not the evaporator)...
