Alternator, When do they go??? 850

It has a lot to do with the battery you use, how the car is used, length of average drive, the accesories you use, the condition of the car, the maintenace of the car, etc.

My alternator lasted for about 6 years. Although after about 4-5, I installed a stereo system so that has to be accounted for as well. It was so much failing as the bearings were beginning to make noise. Because it was the fall, it was only going to get worse, I like loud music, I decided to have it done.

So basically, don't be surprised if you can get away from 200,000km on the original alternator. Just keep an ear out for it.
