Upgrade Wheels to 16' ? S70 1998

I am considering upgrading my OEM 15" wheels to 16"; therefore, I understand that I would need to go from a 195/65-15 to 205/50-16 sized tire. I was visiting www.tirerack.com and I realized that the tire options, particularly for a touring style, all-season tire, is very limited in teh 205/50-16 size. Since I live in the mountains and can received significant snow fall, I need good snow/ice traction and can't use a high performance tire. Any real benefit to upgrading to the 16" sized wheel?
