The call I received today was from my local Volvo service rep and here's what he told me:
They added a gallon of gas and the car started and ran until the gallon was gone. Gas gauge reads six gallons in the tank. They said that the V70 has a split tank to accommodate the AWD drive shaft and that it could be that gas is not getting to the other side of the tank. Their initial thought is to lower the gas tank (6 hours of labor) to determine the actual problem.
The car has close to 80K miles -- 72K of which I have no service records for. Since I purchased the car in January of this year, I have been bringing it back up to the recommended service level. Plugs, Cap, Rotor, Wires, Fuel Filter, K&N filter, fresh air filter, o-rings in oil pan (solved tapping lifter noise), turbo oil return line gasket, oil & filter, interior tail gate clips, timing belt, transmission flush and service, E-code lenses with Philips Vision Plus bulbs, new battery and battery cable connection.
Given all the attention you would think it would be one happy R car.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
