...but ABS and real safety

For one, if the ABS system is inop, the ABS and tracs lights are on SO you'll then know that your ABS isn't going to be working, no surprize really.

As for cars and ABS, none of any car that I've owned in my 30 yrs of driving have had ABS and that matter in itself hasn't caused me one accident. I can drive and stop (even panic stop) safely w/o ABS and wouldn't buy any car for that feature in itself. If a car with ABS has a failed ABS system, that car still stops like all other cars w/o ABS.
