Are you sure it's a battery light? I ask because you'ld be amazed how often I see that complaint on customer ROs only to find that it's really just low on coolant or WW fluid (requiring topping up at the least), not at all related to the battery or charging system.
If you're sure it's the charging system, have it properly diagnosed with a device that tests the alternator output and battery condition, known as a Vat-40 (or newer model). Don't guess. If the alternator does need repair or replacement, it's not an easy job for someone inexperienced IMHO.
