I have a 98 c70 hpt with 81,000 miles on it.
On the way out to lunch today, I experienced a strange occurance. When I would come to a stop on a rough road from about 35 MPH to a stop, under standard braking pressure, the abs would come on and shutter through the whole car until I came to a full stop. This occurred three times within an hour.
My question is, is it possible that the ABS control unit is bad or is this something else? I have already had the unit replaced once at about 64,000, and find it difficult to believe that it would go out again in under 25,000 miles. Any suggestions?
I am regular and current with all standard maintenance, wheels were balanced the day before, and retorqued by hand with a torque wrench, front and rear brakes rotors and pads have less then 8,000 miles on them. Rotors are true and unwarped.
Please offer any suggestions that may solve this problem. Thank you.
