I bought the car new, and have not had any problem with the radio unit until this week. When I turn on the radio the sound would come up normally; but shortly after the volume would start lowering quickly until it is completely silent. I have not found a reliable pattern to get the sound to come up again; sometimes the sounds comes up when I turn on the unit, sometimes it doesn't. While the radio is all silent, the display still shows the radio station normally, and the display reacts to changing stations. I can switch to the CD changer and hear it being accessed, and the display changes over also. But I cannot insert a CD into the built-in CD unit; switching over to CD results in EE on the display (have not had a chance to read the manual to see if this is the normal code for no CD).

I have not tried disconnecting power to the radio unit to try to reset it.

Has anyone seen this kind of weird problem before? Any possible fix, or am I SOL with this unit?
