Tire Pressure S60

The MAX pressure on a tire is the tire manufactures number.
They don't know how you use the tire (or what car it will
be on) but they know the max it can safely handle so they stamp
it on the tire.

What Volvo knows is something the tire manufacturer does not
know: the weight of the car, suspension settings, etc.
So the car manufacturer determines the correct pressure to use
and you should use Volvo's numbers.
