tie rod end question....replacement 850 1996

i tried to replace the right tie rod end on my 850 turbo sedan last wkend with no success.
there seems to be a 22mm locknut at the end that just wont budge. has anyone ever tried replacing this? am i turning it in the wrong direction? would appreciate step by step and any tips that would help.
