Don't guess at a receiver as that'd be highly unlikely AND still won't fix it w/o the dealers PC to program it SO you'll be wasting your time and money.
In '99s on up, the dealers PC is required to program those remotes and it's likely that you'll need new remotes (plus programming) as what often happens with used cars is that a salesperson finds any ol' remotes and throws them in w/o testing them first. If so, they owe you two remotes IMHO (assuming it was purchased by a dealer?).
