Well, some electronics DO fail for various reasons.....even my so called, 8 yr old "state of the art" Carver amp in my home audio system and we could talk about PC parts all day.
If you're so inclined, do TRY opening one up and looking at the board yourself as I have and I'm unable to SEE anything that I'd say looks bad IMHO.
Do realize that by opening the unit up, you're likely to ruin the chance of getting your core $$ back from the Volvo dealer parts department.
If you do decide to open one up, please report back here if you think you can fix it.
