Even better and more aggresive preventative maintenance is engine and tranny replacement. Heck, after 70k they are probably ready to die anyway. So why wait, just keep on replacing. BTW, don't get discouraged by Volvo techs assurances that water pumps don't usually fail. What they know. They just want your car to fail big time to enrich themselves fixing it.
