Why V70GLT is quieter than V70 base model

Shawn,

I noticed this also when driving a loaner. Possible reasons: Turbo cars are lower compression, the turbo breaks up exhaust noise, and I noticed additional heat shields on my turbo at the portion of the car nearest the turbo downpipe. I imagine all three are contributory.
