Problem with improved Headlight Switch-Problem solved for now! V70-XC70 1998

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

It turned out as you mentioned that the "improved" HL switch was "Made in "Ireland". Not sure better than the OEM HL switch because it broke off after one year.

Called Volvo Dealer : Sorry 4.5 years and 33 K miles, out of wanranty, even if this is a safety-related item (No HL at night = high risk of crash). Anyway, if they do not improve their cutomers' satisfaction, my next car would be a BMW.

Luckily, I happened to fix the PCV water drain pipe at home and came up with this idea:

Use the same Primer and Glue as for PVC pipe at home (Home Depot carries "Oaktey" Brand). I carefully put the parts together, primed with "Oaktey" Primer, then glue with "Oaktey" glue. BTW, these cost less than $3.00 @ Home Depot.

Hold it still for 5 minutes for the glue to set. Now it works great because the PVC glue is designed to handle tempereature changes and very harsh environment of sewage pipes.

Will keep you guys posted as to me "repair" techniques. Hope this repair lasts much than a replacement (a new HL switch costs $42.00 @ Dealers).

Hope this helps someone out there.
