Is your automatic transmission downshifting? 2 seconds seems a bit long.

I have a manual transmission 98 T5 and if the tac shows 2000 RPM and I
floor it not much happens for a couple seconds (especially in higher
gears). If your car is not downshifting when you accelerate rapidly
then the lag could be a couple seconds as RPMs and boost build.
