2001 V70 won't start (sometimes)

So you encounter the same intermittent no-start/no-crank problem? How long has this condition existed for you?

My car is a 2001 V70 wagon, 2.4, no turbo, manual 5-speed. I've had the car about 2 years (25k miles).

There is no apparent pattern to when this problem occurs. It can happen unpredictably using either remote/key pair.

Volvo tells me no "error" codes were logged. If every variable necessary to start the car is properly monitored, I don't understand why computer diagnostics can't find this.

This seems to me a specific system is returning a false OK status (a system bug), or, a specific system component is simply not monitored (poor engineering).
