Do door panels have to be removed for speaker replacement?

No. Just gently pry the grills off to expose the speakers. Same with the dash. Gently pry up the grills to expose the speaker. However, they are mounted with expanding plastic rivets instead of screws. Push the "button" in the center of the rivet about 1/4", then lift up and out. Push the button back out so it sticks out about 1/4", install rivet, push button back flush to lock.
