If the air pump is making noise, you need a new one. The when it throws a code, usually it's caused by water in the pump. I've sucassfully removed many a pump, dumped out the water and drilled a few small holes to allow the water to drain, reinstalled anh cleared the code and they've never had air pump troubles again. My mom went through a few, until I did that, she hasn't had a problem with it in years! Most pumps fail due to condensation form taking short trips from a cold start.
