Just keep in mind, they only report what they have access to. I've told this story before but the short version is; My wife was hit and run off the road 3 years ago while driving our Caravan. $5,000 damage, insurance paid, (other guy's fault but uninsured) and this still doesn't show up on carfax.

I'd still use them though. When I was ready to buy my Volvo I bought a month or carfax for $20. I ran about 20 VINs through it and turned up some interesting information.

If the car you're looking at is at a dealer, they should provide the carfax report.
