Ok. I bought an 850 (95) back in June this year. Since then, Its been great, and i love it to death. However, If i leave the lights on, sit in the car with my radio going, or anything without the car being on, The car needs jumped to start. It only takes about 2 seconds of it being hooked up to another battery for it to have enough juice to start.
Well. about a month ago. I was driving down the street. The radio cut out,And one By one, my warning lights started coming on, TRACS and ABS, then SRS, then The up arrow. After the up arrow came on, the tranny started slipping, and the car eventually died. I had it jumped (same as above, not long) and started to drive, then it died within 5 seconds. Tried to jump it again, And it wouldnt jump, even hooked up for about 20 minutes.
I got the car home with a tow, and ripped out the alternator, figureing that was the problem, since the Morning this happened, we had the battery tested, and it was fine.
So The guy at NAPA told me and my dad that the alternator bearings were bad. We then ordered a rebuilt. I got it, put it in, and the car worked fine. Has been running great ever since. Until today.
While driving, the same thing started to happen with the warning lights. And the tranny started slipping. So I jump the car, starts right away as usual. Let it charge for a few minutes, (I was just trying to get enough power in the system to drive me about a mile to a parking lot I can work on it in.) Then i unhooked the jumpers, and it died again. Jumped it one more time, but this time it took about 5 minutes of charging. After that, I gave it a go, and Drove like hell back to the lot. On the way home. The battery light didnt even start to flicker, and it ran like normal.
After i got it into the lot. I left it running while i ran inside to grab a Multimeter. (Figuring it would die by the time i got back, since i left the headlights and everything on in it.) I got back, it was still running strong. Ive seen many people read voltages across the battery, so i figured Id get that info while i could. Read as follows:
No headlights: 11.5-12 Volts (Its steady, I just cant read the meter too well at night)
Headlights on: Same
Hight Beams on : Same.
I know that it should be up around 14.5 Volts from what I read on here.
My question is. How likely is it that I got another bad alternator? Or what are some other problems i should look for?
Thanks in advance.
