??? CD changer does not operate? :( 850 1993

I have had numerous problems - heres's the resolution.
Unit is loosing its memory- doesn't know where to put loose cd's once in player.
Extract the carrier - if it does not come out - use a piece of cardboard in a 2" strip (from a tablet) and stick under carrier - this unleashes the lock.
Pull all cd's out of carrier - put carrier back in.
If this does not work - unplug connector in back of unit.
Turn on and off - this should reset it.

I have replaced unit twice and just live with it now -
