You are correct to be concerned about heat - and additional heat is pretty much what you'll get (and melted connectors, and yellowed reflectors. But you'll get almost no additional light. Best bet is to go with the best and whitest halogens available for your car (Sylvania SilverStar, Hella LightPower, Philips Premium or BlueVision) - all of which produce 30% more illumination, and whiter light. In addition, convert the front lenses to e-code (European) so more of the extra light gets put down on the road.

If you add the 100W lamps, you will probably not be able to see any difference at all.
