I don't think the poster was looking to be lectured on being good to nature.
He was looking for technical advice not a lecture. To answer the question,
I have never heard of a SCCA racer adding a CAT to increase performance!
You remove it to decrease your exhaust flow restriction, if you have dual exhaust you add an H-pipe to equalize the pressure, and then it's time to
do the intake and reprogram the ECU.
