abnormal amount of oil consumption (C70 HPT 5 spd) C70 1999

When did you change to synthetic oil? (At how many miles?- Was the car on petroleum oil for how many miles?)

1 qt in 3000 miles is considered normal consumption. I know it seems like a lot, but to Volvo it would be within normal. My 855 uses a qt in roughly about 7-8K...but I don't let it get a qt low then top up.

I guess I have more questions: What does the dipstick indicate when you shut down after you get "the low oil pressure light coming on for a split second during aggressive turns."?

Maybe the oil pump pick-up is going dry by the centripedal forces. I would just make sure that with your kind of driving keep the oil well topped up.

You could have a leak down cylinder pressure test and maybe there is an issue with the internal oil pump o-rings
