Bad RPM sensor 850 1997

I would try the camshaft position sensor. The two are very closely linked in the problems you are describing. It's a very simple repair. Just remove a little of the intake plumbing to get access, you'll find it on the end of the block on the exhaust camshaft. Two torx screws, unplug one sensor, and that's pretty much it.
