Well, I was EXTRA glad I drove a Volvo the other day. I was hit by an SUV in a hit and run accident on the expressway. The impact caused my car to spin out of control (it occured in the middle of a bend, and the SUV was coming at me pretty fast from the side). My Volvo plowed into the median and bounced off sending it careening into a guard rail 3 lanes of traffic away. (Luckily late at night). The car slid along the guard rail eventually coming to a stop about 6 posts from where it started (that's how many the trooper said I broke). Anyway, I was never happier to be inside such a well engineered cabin. Though no airbags deployed (bad impact angles, I guess) I was left with only 1 bruise and 1 cut from impacting the B-pillar. The highway worker and trooper were both amazed that I came away with such little injury. They repeatadly asked if I was SURE I didn't need an ambulance.

Anyways, Just thought I'd post to let you guys know (as if you didn't already) that the car ('98 S70 T5-M) really is as safe as they say.

I know what car I'll be replacing it with. (Now it's just a matter of finding another one).

I'll try and get some pictures to post to show what the car looks like after giving itself to save it's driver.
