Can't Open Gas Cap or Trunk on S70!!

My 98 S70 (build date Jan 1997) does not have a manual override
for the gas cap (I made one myself). At some point in 98 they
did start to add them since other people report (here) they see
it in the inside of their S70 trunks.

I've never experienced the problem. I suspect the power for both
solenoids (that open the trunk and gas cap) is from the same source
and they are not getting power.

Did the remote work on the trunk? If so, that might point to the
switch on the door.
