Kelly-

The flame trap prevents oil blowback as well as ventillation to the cranckase. When it gets clogged, pressure will build in your crankcase and cause you blow your engine seals.

The flame trap is located under the throttle body cover. I believe there are instructions on removal/installation on volvospeed.com/bay13

The part is only a couple of bucks. As far as I know, no PCV valve.
