If you're planning to keep the car after the warranty, read the fine print on oil changes in your owners manual: almost EVERYONE drives a car under "severe" conditions (cold or hot weather, stop&go driving, excessive idling, dusty conditions, etc).
The only guy who drives under "ideal conditions" is a travelling salesman who's driving that car on the freeway everyday, like the guy who puts 100K miles per year on the car. Most of us don't do that.
Realistically, it's still 3,000 miles or 3 months for petroleum based oils. Synthetics can go further but I personally wouldn't go 7,500 miles with Mobil 1.
A salesman won't tell you about the fine print on that as lack of maintenance sells cars and he wants to sell cars, doesn't care how long it lasts after the sale.
