Volvo has a habit, like lots of auto makers, to trumpet the fact that the car has a turbo on the rear of the car, or at least under the bonnet. Look for the word Turbo on the air filter housing. The exceptions are the Light Pressure Turbos, in which case I think you would see the rather large charge air pipe traveling from the rear of the motor to the radiator location. This sort of turbo wasn't supplied on US cars until the S/V70 series, I think.
I think it's possible Volvo offered the 850 to Europe with a 2 liter turbo, as they did build such a motor for the 440/460 model. From what I heard this was supposed to be a monster of a car- but I never got a chance to find out.
Anybody know what motors are supplied in the 850s that the police use in Europe?
Just curious.
