difference between GLT / GLE 850 850

In 1996, the GLE was only available in Canada (in North American market). Engine wise the 1996 GLT and GLE were both a N/A 2.4 liter engine. The GLT had 4 valves per cylinder good for 168hp and the GLE had the same engine but with 2 valves per cylinder good for 142hp (a 26 hp difference).
The important thing is that they are both similar in Torque output, so the GLE didn't feel slower below 4000 RPM were most people tend to drive. You will feel the additional power of the GLT if you redline it.
