freak stall on highway 850 1996

I would check your battery, and the fuses, both are cheep to replace so I'd start there before looking at expensive things like the computer.
Re. battery, I had a similar problems with the electronics of other cars (not volvos) when the battery was on it's last leg. It is weird because the battery had the juice to crank the engine but was some how messing up the electonics in the car. I put a new battery and the problems went away, it kinda bugs me that I can't explain it.
