The '93s must be different than the later years regarding the light status. (???) On my '95, a light indicates A/C *ON*.

And, of course, if you never use A/C, and you also don't ever need it for defogging, and you don't care about the feature for resale, you're OK. There are no other effects or problems associated with the evaporator leak!
