I had the same problem with the reardoor speaker set and bought two 4 inch blaupunkt speakers from crutchfiled to replace the 5+ inch oems. however, i didnt like the sound, i.e., they were too underpowered. So i took them out and bought two used ones from volvo dismantlers in IL (www.STRANDBERGAUTO.COM) for $40. They sound great. You probably will find the two front ones i didn't buy.

Yes the speaker covers come out using a flat screwdriver. inside you will need #20 or 25 torx screw driver to take out the speakers. No need to take out the door panels on my 94, 855 (wagon).
