wiring harness 850

I just been advised the wiring harness for the 850 turbo needs replacing due to check engine light and occasional sputtering on the road.

Is $900 reasonable for this. It seems ridiculous.

Also, what if I live with sputtering. Is there a chance I will be left stranded eventually or worst cause bigger damage.

Any advise is appreciated.
