I have the same symptom I believe, but I own a '97 850 N/A. From testing this over and over every time I drive, I have determined that the clunk is only felt on initial acceleration just after BRAKING to a complete stop. The reason I emphasized braking, is I have found that if I decelerate to almost a stop using the eng/trans and finally the hand brake without touching the brake pedal, nothing is felt on acceleration. Only when accelerating after braking normally is it felt. It does not do it when braking from speed and then accelerating without coming to a complete stop either ???). Also, the harder the braking/acceleration the more severe of a clunk. It can be felt when my hand is at 12 o'clock pulling downward on the wheel. None-the-less, it is very annoying. I have the checked what I can see on the rack and there are no leaks and nothing appears to be loose. I have been putting it off because I assumed it was probably some thing loose in the steering column/tilt mechanism (but still had suspicion of something deeper). Bottom line, I think this affects more vehicles than just '01 & '02. Would love to see a thread/pole started on who is experiencing. By the way, could you send a copy of the tech/serv info you have?
