Update on my dead wipers: the link connecting the actuator arms (which attach to the wiper arm spindles) had become disconnected from the wiper motor spindle, which explains why both wipers died at the same time. (Thanks Homer and Ching-Ho for your replies to my earlier post.)
After I re-connected everything and re-installed the assembly into the firewall, now the wiper fuse blows every time I turn them on. Is there some way the motor could have been damaged when the actuator arms fell off? (I wouldn't think so, since the motor spindle would then just turn freely, not being connected to anything.)
There are two wiring pigtails with plugs connected to the wiper motor, one with two wires (blue/black) and the other with three (yellow/green/brown). The fuse doesn't blow when EITHER plug is connected to the harness (but the wipers don't work, either) but the fues does blow when BOTH plugs are connected. Does anybody know what the pinout is for these plugs?
Could this be a bad wiper relay? (BTW, which relay controls the wipers -- I'm assuming it's one of the ones immediately next to the fuse panel, underneath the cover.) Since the wiper motor moved slightly (to park) before the fuse blew, I'm wondering if the motor may be OK after all, and I have an electrical issue.
All input welcomed. Thanks.
