Well, I know that the air pump and check valve are not covered by any third party extended warranties I have investigated, including my own warranty by warrantygold.com. That is because it is an emmision item as you correctly point out. Conveniently, Volvo also excludes these parts in its standard "beyond 4 year" emmision warranty! So, you are likely out of luck. They had it for $270 or so last I checked.
