I've had 3 unexpected repairs in the last month (this is not including the brake rotors replacement, see previous message):
1) engine mount
2) turbo oil leak
3) brake hydraulic pump relay
Thank god these repairs were covered under warranty otherwise I would be really pissed. The car only has 38k miles on it (I put 160k miles on my Toyota with no problems, only routine maintainance and replacements)! The factory warranty expires in 2 months.
I realize the posters on this board probably represent less than 1% of S/V40 owners and are biased towards posting complaints vs. compliments, all the messages about repairs do have me thinking about purchasing an extended warranty. I plan on keeping the car for at least another five years.
Anyone purchase an extended warranty or recommend a good extended warranty provider? What do people think about extended warranties? I always decline for electronic goods but the above three repairs probably would have cost about $1k if not for the warranty. Any advice appreciated.
Off topic, I suspect defect #3 above contributed to the premature failure of the front brake rotors at less than 38k miles (I don't drive hard, but do live on a hill). Do I have any recourse for early brake rotors failure due to product defect? BTW- it was basically luck that the tech noticed the relay failure as I didn't notice any change in braking (he said he did during a test drive to test the repair for #2).
thanks
David
