Strut bracing does indeed "improve" the handling, simply put, you are stiffening the chassis. This is true for anti-sway bars which usually compliment the upper braces. If you look at many of the higher end cars out there they have strut braces as standard OEM. Even my brother-in-laws new base model Volkswagen Jetta TDI has strut braces!
