Difficult to replace ABS control unit myself? Other ABS questions, please help! 850 1996

Mine went twice. I consioder this a huge safety defect. Many 850's are plagued with this problem. Volvo, the "safety" company, doesn't consider this a problem. Check out National Highway Traffic Safety's website www.nhtsa.org. The complaints are mounting. Unfortunately, if Volvo ever steps up to the plate, I won't be compensated because I sold my beautiful lemon about 3 months ago.
