sat nav install - where's the speed sensor wire? 850

Does it NEED a vehicle speed sensor? My wireless Garmin eMap knows my speed anywhere w/o any external sensors. The GPS gets all that via satelite.
To find a specific vehicle speed sensor, one would need an OEM wiring diagram.
