The biggest thing that I want out of them is mileage. I drive over 30,000 miles a year and I don't want to be spending $800 to $1,000 on tires every year.
I like the current ride, and control I have with both wet and dry traction with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but the wear is horrible. I've got nearly the same amount of miles out of my Pilot Sport as I have the Pilot Sport A/S.
The kicker is that the A/S is a harder rubber and a treadwear of 400 vs, the Pilot Sport of 220. So, naturally I assumed that with a harder rubber comes a longer lasting tire.....well in this case, I guess I was wrong.
I think its a misprint on Michelins part..
Anyway, the bottom line is that I want a long lasting tire that will stick in the corners, wear well, give me excellent dry traction and solid wet. High speed handling and cornering are a must as I drive through canyons and the freeway on a daily basis, and I don't want to spend more then roughly 150 a tire. Even that is pushing it.
I don't know about the rest of you but replacing tires every year along with brake pads isn't high on my priority list. I can think of hundreds of other things to spend my hard earned money on.....
So what do you guys recommend for a 225/45/17...
