My 740 got totalled last week by a truck, and I'm looking for a replacement. I was going to get another 740 or 940. But the plentiful (and very nice looking!) 850's keep catching my eye. I have a few issues/preconceptions that I want to discuss.
First off the 850 looks a lot more difficult to service than the 700. Is it as hard as it look? How bad is a timing belt service? Also, my other concern is about the transmission. I have this belief, a crazy as it may seem, that a FWD auto tranny cannot be as strong as a good RWD auto tranny. As we all know the AW series trannies in the RWD cars are pretty bulletproof. I'm hoping the FWD cars are the same way.
I'm going to look at both nonturbo and turbo models. What common problems should I watch out for?
Thanks!
