About my previous post concerning the control arm replacement... 850 1995

Ho,

Frankly, I would rather have torqued them while on the stands, considering how little room there is to work under the car when it is on the ground. The Haynes manual, however, clearly stated that while the car is on stands, to tighten the chassis bolts finger tight, then install the wheels, lower the car to the ground, and then torque the chassis bolts to 51 ft/lbs, tighten another 120 degrees, which was practically impossible for me.

The manual does specify, however, that the ball joint bolt is to be torqued while the car is jacked up.
