Glove Compartment Stuck 850 1995

Help! My glove Compartment is stuck closed!! Normally I wouldn't let this bother me but what If I get pulled over. I'm sure the officer is gonna belive me when I say my glove compartment is stuck closed and I can't my regristration. I tried prying it open with a very long screw driver only to make tears in the material te glove compartment is made out of. And no it is not locked. Maybe someone has a special technique to do this? Please help!
