I have read some posts here that some have used a dremmel tool to open it up and silicone to seal it back. A couple of people have had success.
You will need a good magnifying lense and good lighting. Check the circuit board and solder joints carefully and resolder if doubtful.
This reminds me of the poor soldering in fuel and od relays in 240/740, until somebody started taking them apart and resoldering the weak spots and relays would work like new.
Please post back here your success or failure. This is the only way to empower volvo owners with knowledge to repair a common defect.
