In my recent experience, you can get a Bosch premium alternator on line from Trollhattan Autoparts for about $220. I found that price was $180 under the local parts stores by $180, and undercut the volvo dealership by about $300.

Note: these are rebuilt units, as replacement alternators almost always are.

Also note: Bosch alternators come with a 12 month/12,000 mile guarantee, and it's what was in my car originally. Good luck.
