This v. well could be the computer.

It's not hard to swap, really. Don't pay them to do it, do it yourself. Or if you can live without the car you can have yours rebuilt somewhat cheaper. Found a guy in Miami if I remember right that was doing this.

He must have lotsa time on his hands.
